Abigail was AMAZING with our shy kindergartener. She came from a school that did not let her learn to read in a productive way (no sounding out, no communication home on possible issues) and was ready to shut down completely. She tested at a pre-k level at the end of kindergarten. She’s now ended her first year of first grade two grades ABOVE her reading level. Abigail gave her the tools and confidence to learn in a productive way and encouraged her to sound out anything she needed. She worked hard to undo an entire year of damage and my daughter and I are so grateful to her!

When I found out my son was reading below level, I searched around and found a tutor who sang the praises of Fountas and Pinnell. We did a sample session with her and something didn’t vibe right. That’s when I got in touch with Anchored Reading. From our first consultation, I immediately felt confident with Abigail’s knowledge, background, and skills. There was a world of difference between our first session with her and our trial with the other tutor. I could tell she was going back and laying a strong foundation, instead of applying patches that would wear over time. She is patient, clear, concise, and keeps a pace that works well for my son’s attention span. When questions come up during home practice or school, Abigail has been happy to clarify and provide support outside of our regular sessions. It’s been amazing to see the progress that our son has made over the last few months with Abigail. He’s moved up multiple levels at school, but more importantly, all those foundational gaps are being filled in. With that progress comes more confidence and more fun. He’s dramatically less frustrated when reading, and is now excited to spend time curled up with a book. As a parent, it can be so hard to see your child struggle. I can honestly say that finding Abigail has lifted so much weight off my chest. I’m truly grateful to have her on this journey with us.

Anchored Reading has been one of our family's greatest blessings. We watched our children grow not only as readers, but as humans under Abigail’s watch as they were bolstered by her positivity, grace, and mercy. We reached out to Anchored Reading after our first parent teacher conference at school. Our kindergartener was struggling with some of the basics and needed a lot of repetition. Our son has loved Abigail's one on one tutoring sessions. He asks me everyday if he is meeting with her online. Abigail does a great job keeping the child engaged and their confidence up. We are so happy we found Anchored Reading and his teachers have already seen a big improvement in the classroom.

We are so thankful for Anchored Reading! Our 8 year old was recently diagnosed with dyslexia and reading has always been very challenging for him. He was falling behind and his skills were well below grade level. Abigail came highly recommended and has helped our son improve dramatically. Thank goodness for Anchored Reading!  We started working with Abigail several months ago because our 7 year old was struggling with reading and as a result school was really challenging. After a summer of working together on zoom, he has made tremendous progress.  Most importantly, he feels more confident and doesn't give up when he has difficult work. Abigail is so kind and made sessions playful, fun and engaging. We couldn't recommend her more!

Abigail has been working with our daughter to ease her transition into a new, more challenging school curriculum. During this time her reading skills, including phonics and spelling, have improved significantly with Abigail's help. It is so nice to see our daughter’s confidence improve and to see her so excited and ready to go when she has a session with Abigail. Additionally,  Abigail has been amazing at communicating and informing us / following up with our daughter’s progress.

Our son is a reluctant writer, but he left each of his sessions with Abigail energized and with a smile! We so appreciate her adjusting her style to the student, sharing progress updates, and partnering with us on ideas that we can use to reinforce his learning at home. We also appreciate her meeting our son where he was in terms of his needs and interests, and her positive approach to engaging with him (and us)!
